CU Orchestra to Perform Oct. 6

CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM OCT. 6

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.– The Campbellsville University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music, will present the first of several concerts this year at the Campbellsville Baptist Church Sanctuary on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.

Campbellsville Baptist Church is located at 420 N. Central Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.

The concert will feature the premier performance of “The Dance” by Seth Johnson, a junior at Campbellsville University.  It will also feature the encore performance of “The Legend of Sherwood Forest” also by Johnson.

Other works include “Meditation” by Jules Massenet, “Variations on a Theme of Haydn” by Johannes Brahms, “Symphony #4, 4th Movement” by Brahms and “Selections” from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music, and Dr. Frieda Gebert, associate professor of music (vocal/choral), will be singing themes from that work played by the orchestra.

Associate conductor, Wansoo Cho will conduct both of the Brahms selections.

Violin one players include: Marcus Silva of Fortaleza, Brazil; Seung-Hwa Han of Busan, Korea; Dr. Heidy Ximenes, assistant professor of music, of Campbellsville; Saelim Jung of Changwon, Korea; Jae Hyok Kim of Gyeougsan, Korea; Courtney Gilbert of Busan, Korea; Haegee Chung of Busan, Korea; and Elizabeth Lemmon of Liberty, Ky.

Violin two players include: Jonatas Souza of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Ji-Hoon An of Busan, Korea; Hannah Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Megan Watkins of Campbellsville; Garth Kauffman of Campbellsville; and Mary Eastham of Greensburg, Ky.

Viola players include: Denis Santos of Fortaleza, Brazil; Wansoo Cho of Busan, Korea; Sarah Gilbert of Hodgenville, Ky.; Katie Johnson of Leitchfield, Ky.; and Roger Davis of Campbellsville.

Cello players include: Felix Borges of Recife, Brazil; Seth Johnson of Leitchfield, Ky.; Laura Kauffmann of Campbellsville; and Adrienne Gilbert of Hodgenville, Ky.

Bass players include: Pablo Souza of Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Julie Caldwell, administrative assistant in the CU Office of Special Projects, of Campbellsville; and Jonathan Chaudoin of Louisville, Ky.

Flute players include: Seromi Kim of Youngheung-Dong, Korea; Sunghye Kim of Busan, Korea; Abby Lanham of Lebanon, Ky.; Nell Chaudoin of Springfield, Ky.; Katie Hamilton of Springfield, Ky.; and Cristina Soares of Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

Oboe players include: Dong Suek Yu of Busan, Korea; and Yoo Jin Lee of Brentwood, Tenn.

Clarinet players include: Jong Kwan Lee of Seongnam-si, Korea; Seungbim Hwang of Bupyeong-Gu, Korea; and Brittany Judd of Campbellsville.

Bassoon players include: Kanghee Kim of Kwang Myung, Korea; Dana Etherington of Somerset, Ky.; and Haejin Kim of Los Angeles, Calif.

Trumpet players include: Jae Hyuk Cho of Seoul, Korea; Daniel Murphy of Bloomfield, Ky.; and Matt Macon of Bedford, Ky.

Horn players include: Wooyoung Choi of Busan, Korea; Bradley Whitehead of Russell Springs, Ky.; Bobbie Jo Sturm of Glasgow, Ky.; and Joni Farmer of Campbellsville, Ky.

Trombone players include: Zach Shelton of Campbellsville, Ky.; Stephen Coates of Leitchfield, Ky.; and JD Ragland of Munfordville, Ky.

Al Courington of Campbellsville will play tuba.

Percussion players include: Adam Hopper of  Somerset, Ky.; Mary Gray of Owensboro, Ky.; and Jasmine Barnett of Greensburg, Ky.

Eun-Hye Lee of Busan, Korea will play piano..
