CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University Theater will present a play titled Red by John Logan, on April 26-28 at 7 p.m. at the Russ Mobley Theater, located on the campus of Campbellsville University at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville.

The event is open to the public. Campbellsville University faculty, staff, and students are admitted for free, and general admission is $5.

The synopsis of the play is about a master abstract expressionist, Mark Rothko, who has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art, a series of murals for New York’s famed Four Seasons Restaurant. In the two years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his studio on the Bowery. But when Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing. Raw and provocative, Red is a searing portrait of an artist’s ambition and vulnerability as he tries to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting.

Those participating in the Musical Revue are: Ian Shepard, a junior of Somerset, Ky., as the main character, Mark Rothko; and Jameson Dakota Rogers, a junior of Harrodsburg, Ky., as the assistant, Ken.

The director and artistic director is Starr Garrett, assistant professor and theater director.

The technical director is Matt Nall, assistant director of theater; Susie Trejo-Williams, an art student of Campbellsville, Ky., and Alia McClendon, a freshman of Campbellsville, Ky., are head of costumes; and Sarah Porter, a sophomore of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Jess Harris, a senior of Louisville, Ky., are head of set dressing.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master’s degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
