Intern Job Description: Field Organizer Intern Marsy’s Law for Kentucky is a coalition of individuals, organizations and advocates seeking to incorporate a crime victims’ bill of rights into the Kentucky Constitution. Kentucky is one of only 15 states that does not provide crime victims constitutional protection. Marsy’s Law for Kentucky is an affiliate of Marsy’s Law for All and is working to pass this law through the Kentucky General Assembly in 2018, and then on the November 2018 statewide ballot
Position: Field Organizer Intern
Description: Marsy’s Law for Kentucky seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist in coalition and campaign building efforts in their home area. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of grassroots campaigning while working for a well-organized and funded policy effort that appeals to the general public.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit and schedule volunteers for community events and activities
- Assist in identifying local community events and activities appropriate for Marsy’s Law
- Collaborate with other staff on new ideas, directions and venues for volunteer recruitment, events and activities to educate and create excitement about Marsy’s Law
Qualifications:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills
- Effective multitasking ability
- Ability to meet given deadlines and goals
- Outgoing and friendly attitude
- Interest in policy, political or crime victim oriented issues
Education: College students preferred – this is a GREAT resume builder!
Start Date: Six regional (KY) positions, open until filled
Hours: Work Schedule is not fixed and weekend and evening hours may occasionally be expected. Expect to work about 10-15 hours/week.
Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship
