The International Student Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of comprehensive and effective orientation and transition programming for international students. The coordinator collaborates across campus and community to provide cultural, cohort-based, mentorship, and other co-curricular academic and social programming for international students at Miami University. Builds and supports an inclusive, welcoming, and vibrant environment at Miami University.
Duties/Physical Demands:
International Student Program Coordination Develop, refine, implement, and coordinate effective curriculum, pedagogy, excursions, and programs for international students in collaboration with campus partners; develop assessment plans to ensure programs, systems, and services are working effectively to support student success and meet goals; facilitate the development and acquisition of necessary skills to enable international students to effectively transition to the U.S. and Miami culture and succeed toward personal, academic, and professional goals; collaborate to build productive partnerships; promote an institutional culture that celebrates diversity, multicultural, and intercultural learning.
Advising Counsel international students on issues related to social and cultural integration; serve as a Designated School Official and assist with document updates, SEVIS processes, and immigration advising as needed.
General Follow university policies and procedures related to purchasing, accounts payable, personnel, payroll, volunteers, payroll, and participant travel; correspond with students, parents, faculty, and staff with diplomacy, discretion and judgment; this position requires attendance at evening and weekend activities during certain times of the year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; experience with program planning for international students; familiarity with university community and cross cultural experiences; evidence of excellent attendance record. Federal regulations require that this position be held by a US citizen or US permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree; Chinese language proficiency; experience living, working, or studying in Asia; experience developing, refining, and implementing effective international student retention strategies and programs; familiarity with SEVIS and F-1 regulations.
