CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “You can run your own race, at your own pace and time yourself,” Joey Hartlage, Campbellsville University’s assistant director of on-campus enrollment, said.

For those who look forward to the annual Homecoming race at Campbellsville University, a virtual option is being offered.

Those interested in participating in the Homecoming race will need to run or walk a 5K/10K/Half Marathon anywhere on their own or with a small group of people and time it. “You can run, jog or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track,” Hartlage said.

The university encourages everyone to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines and stay six feet apart at all times.

When it comes to timing, Hartlage said a GPS watch or a smartphone with a GPS app that can track distance will be the most accurate. He said many of the race’s past participants prefer to use the app Strava.

Once a runner has completed his or her preferred distance, they should visit www.campbellsville.edu/alum-ni/homecoming2020/ and submit their time.

Participants can register for the race at any time but to qualify for prizes registration and times should be received by Oct. 24 at 3 p.m.

All participants will be emailed a printable bib as a keepsake and mailed medals. Registration is $5 for Campbellsville University students and $20 for others. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female, and winners will be announced Saturday, Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m. via the Campbellsville University Facebook page.

“We’d like to encourage participants to post a photo of your bib, tag @CampbellsvilleU and use the following hashtags: #CUHOCO2020 and #PlayPawsRewind,” Hartlage said.

For questions, contact Hartlage at (270) 789-5312 or jdhartlage@camp-bellsville.edu.
