In order to further our commitment to our core values and our community, WHAS11, is seeking a Community Engagement and Impact Manager. This position will drive community outreach through successfully developing and managing station partnerships, community outreach, inclusivity efforts and overall community impact. This action-oriented strategic position is not only a key liaison between WHAS11 and the community, but works closely with non-profits, provides perspective internally in support of community concerns, giving particular attention to being a bridge of advocacy and positive change.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison with educational institutions, such as high schools, colleges and universities, to engage in programs and initiatives aimed at developing and attracting future talent.
  • Involvement in onboarding process; educate new hires on internal committees, employee discounts, i9, business cards and station swag.
  • Brainstorming with the Marketing staff and other department heads to create effective on-air and digital support for community issues and sponsorship
  • Create scalable, rapid response, and long-term grassroots engagement strategies that meet the needs of the community and align with the station’s brand and strategic objectives
  • Develop fundraising events and sponsorships and will be essential for deepening existing sponsorships and establishing new ones
  • Partners in strategic plan for audience engagement
  • Determines long-range goals for allocating station dollars to non-profit fund-raising events and coordinating the station’s representation and responsibilities with community facing projects
  • Improve and build-up systems to track and measure program effectiveness and work towards community goals
  • Advocate for coverage of and engagement with underserved communities in Louisville
  • Partner with sales and station leadership in creating sponsorship revenue tied to community projects
  • Document, track, and maintain detailed project/program/initiative records
  • Reviews grant applications and makes recommendations to Senior Leadership on approvals
  • Skills in maintaining, managing, and growing external relationships
  • Manage event vendors and coordinate event-related contracts and vendor agreements

Executive Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating calendars, scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, receiving and routing messages, answering inquiries, processing e-mail, arranging travel, reconciling expenses and coordinating appointments and schedules.
  • Arrange corporate events to take place outside of the workplace for staff appreciation and clients.
  • Collaborating with General Manager, News Director and Marketing Director, foster a sense of appreciation and connectedness among internal staff. This includes being an idea generator for station-wide culture/teambuilding efforts, including food, hospitality, celebrations, staff gifts
  • Oversee the daily operations of the office, assisting in efficient functioning of all office processes.
  • Purchase of office supplies, furniture, other miscellaneous office related items
  • Work cooperatively with internal departments to facilitate requests; including but not limited to meeting space, catering, event help, etc.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and communicational skills, tact, poise, and the ability to take independent action while maintaining a strong work ethic, confidentiality and attention to detail
  • Proactively demonstrate consistent follow-through, judgment, time management, prioritization, and possess the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Office Invoice Coding
  • Expense Reports for leadership team
  • Assist recruiting with scheduling interviews, I-9 administration and employee contracts.
  • Maintain, review and manage EEO, FCC reports.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in marketing, communications, journalism or related field
  • Skills in maintaining, managing, and growing external relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of being accountable for own agenda and working collaboratively with others to achieve broader goals
  • Possesses excellent organizational and people skills
  • Is proficient in planning, executing, managing, monitoring, and recording of remote events.
  • A strong passion and understanding of journalism
  • Attends events and serves as point of contact for sponsors
  • Has ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer committees
  • Has ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, and effectively and professionally work with all constituents
  • Can react to rapidly changing situations
  • Strong technical proficiency is required, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Office; i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Internet tools, software applications, databases and systems used by the company as needed
