Basic Purpose- Provide services that guide and teach students the process of career development, effective career decision-making, and workforce readiness. Serve as an advocate for student career success through employer relationship cultivation.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Bring to the position a creative vision in the goal of enhancing the Institute for Career Development
and Graduate School Planning. Provide direct support to all students and alumni of the University.
Related tasks may include:
• Provide individual career assessment and advising to all students and alumni of the University.
• Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of the Institute for Career Development and
Graduate School Planning (ICG) to connect students to career opportunities and Experiential
Learning opportunities.
• Develop and lead workshops, classroom presentations, and other campus programming on
career development topics such as job search strategies, resume writing, cover letter creation,
interviewing techniques and online career resources.
• Establish rapport with faculty members for student success.
• Collaborate with Assistant Director of the ICG on institute programming.
• Work with faculty and staff to support students in planning for graduate school.
• Connect to internal stakeholders to support student career success.

Related tasks may include:
• Execute outreach to employers and foster relationships, emphasized specifically during the
summer months, for the goal of student career success.
• Serve on internal committees relative to career development initiatives.
• Participate in campus events such as Orientation and Registration, Browsing Fairs, Career and
Internship Fair, etc.
• Collaborate with Assistant Director and other internal stakeholders on employer relations.
Represent the University at internal and external events. Representative tasks may include:
• Represent institute at community events as a liaison between community partners and
students.
• Serve on internal and external committees relative to career development initiatives.
Support the ICG’s operational needs. Representative tasks may include:
• Oversee institute webpage and social media as well as maintain and update career resources to
include information on career opportunities, employment prospects, graduate schools and
graduate admissions test materials, current University catalogs, career planning and job search,
and online career resources and job posting board.
• Support assessment efforts including tracking student and alumni outcomes, reporting data on
career placement of students, and assisting with completing the Success Center Annual Report.
• Supervise the work study positions for the ICG.
• Collaborate with Assistant Director in auditing the experiential learning requirement.
• Operate the Joe Raphael ICG studio and oversee its use.
• Serve as a support and back-up for Thomas More Success Center team.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in student development for university students, or 2+ years of work
experience in a career development or equivalent field.
