About the Role:
We are seeking a Software Engineer with experience in developing internal and customer facing web applications. Be part of an extraordinary opportunity to transform the higher education experience!
As a Software Engineer for Wiley, you will develop internal and customer facing applications properties that engage visitors, drive lead generation, and enhance the overall student journey.
How you will make an impact:
- Develop lead collection and processing capabilities using the AWS Serverless ecosystem, various integration tools, Laravel based MVC applications, and other technologies.
- Collaboratively guide other developers using discovery sessions, code review, pair programming, documentation, and general knowledge sharing.
- Development efforts will follow best practices while working within the established agile SDLC to deliver the highest quality work on predictable intervals.
- Influence our technology strategy by making recommendations that balance best practices, industry standards, developer experience, and cost.
- Participate in requirements gathering, backlog grooming, and other sprint ceremonies. Recommend alternate approaches, define technical impacts, and provide sizing estimates.
- Expand your own base of business and technical expertise, learning from your colleagues as well as from Wiley’s extensive professional development resources.
- Work to keep our applications up to date with modern security and data privacy best practices.
- What we look for:
- 5+ years of experience as a full stack software engineer or application developer.
- Significant expertise working in the AWS ecosystem including Lambda, Cloudwatch, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API gateway.
- Expertise working with serverless and containerized applications with technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event driven architectures, ETL, integrations, message passing systems, No SQL systems, and relational databases and query languages.
- Experience with MVC frameworks, ideally php based frameworks such as Laravel.
- Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages and frameworks like HTML, CSS SASS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Vue.js.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code using technologies like Terraform.
- Familiarity with modern development workflow, including Git and Docker.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience.
