Dabney Baptist Church-Pastor Position Summary
Dabney Baptist Church of Holton, Indiana is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA and is seeking
to call a Pastor for full-time/bi-vocational ministry in Holton, Indiana. Holton is a small rural community
located in Southeastern Indiana in close proximity to Cincinnati, OH, Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY. This
ministry leadership position includes an emphasis on preaching, evangelism, visitation and counseling
(pastoral care & nurturing fellowship). It also includes working alongside in a partnership with our Board of
Deacons, Trustees, and other church committees to further advance the ministry of Dabney Baptist Church
and its congregation.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience
- Master of Theology; Master of Biblical Studies; etc (preferred) from a recognized and fully accredited theological seminary or a current seminary student or equivalent ministerial experience
- At minimum, must be willing to obtain Christian Leaders College (CLI) certification
- Ordination
- Ordained minister according to the standards of, and recognized by, the American Baptist Churches, USA or willing to obtain ordination
- Code of Ethics
- Accept the Code of Ethics of American Baptist Ministers as stated by the Ministerial Leaders of American Baptist Churches
- Set as a guideline of personal behavior the standard required in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 1 Peter 5:1-4
Responsibilities
- Preach well developed, scripture-based sermons weekly at each Sunday service with an emphasis on relevant topics that will impact individuals, the church, the community and the world.
- Evangelize and counsel individuals for salvation, including youth. Encourage their identification with and participation in the church and community.
- Visit church members or others in the church and community with formal and informal connections when and where appropriate with an emphasis on the sick and individuals seeking to make a decision for Christ.
- Counsel individuals, couples, families and/or groups to enter a healing relationship.
- Provide pastoral care with an empathetic understanding of and concern for individuals in the routine and joys of life as well as the crises and transitions of life, giving assistance where appropriate.
- Provide a nurturing fellowship atmosphere in which individuals feel accepted, included and cared for and can identify with the congregation. Support the ministries of the church through encouragement and by attending events and activities hosted by the church.
- Provide for our younger generations, nurturing the youth toward Christian faith commitment and discipleship.
- Attend and participate annually at a camp held at the Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp, Westport, IN.
- Participate in and attend Brotherhood meetings.
- Attend associational meetings and state conventions as part of the American Baptist Churches.
- Conduct weddings and funeral services and additional services when appropriate.

- Salary (negotiable based on education & experience), housing (available), social security, mileage
