CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University will be hosting a virtual football highlight video on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2:01 p.m. Finley Standard Time on CU’s media platforms.
Darryl Peavler, director of athletic alumni and former Fighting Tiger, will take you on a journey back in time from 1987 to present day’s memorable football
highlights.
There will be a link to access the publication on all social media sites, including Twitter, Facebook, Campbellsvilletigers.com, the athletics website and Instagram.
Some highlights being featured during the program will be CU’s first football conference championship in 1992, the Victory Bowl in 2011 and 2017 and other conference championships.
Part of the program will be hosted as a watch party; featured guests, Phyllis Finley, wife of the late Coach Ron Finley; Samantha Finley, daughter of Ron and Phyllis Finley; Donna Pierce, former athletic secretary; managers, coaches’ wives and many more will be able to relive their experiences during the program.
Ron Finley, the original coach who restarted the program in 1987, has had a huge impact on Campbellsville University, Peavler said. As a figure of discipline, respect and in remembrance of Ron Finley, 2:01 p.m. has become the Fighting Tigers’ tradition.
His legacy continues as many of his players have had significant events scheduled on Finley Standard Time.
“This is a way to honor Coach Finley and the program’s history,” Peavler said.
“If you are early, you’re on time, and if you are on time, you are late,” Finley always said.
