CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- Dr. Lisa Scites Allen of Bardstown, Ky. has been hired as an assistant professor of special education at Campbellsville University, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University.
Allen previously served at Nelson County High School in Bardstown, Ky. She worked there since 1988, seven years as an English teacher and 15 years as a guidance counselor.
Allen was a member of the Nelson County Education Association, the Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association. Allen also was a member of the Kentucky Counseling Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and the Kentucky School Counselors Association.
Allen graduated from Ravenswood High School in Ravenswood, W.Va. in 1984. She received a bachelor of science in English and secondary education from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., in 1988.
Allen also holds a master’s in English secondary education, received in 1991 from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. She also has earned a Rank I secondary guidance counselor certification and a Rank IA supervisor of instruction certification from Western.
Allen received her doctorate in 2009 from University of Kentucky. Her dissertation was titled, “Differentiating Professional Development for Teachers: How Teachers Develop and Implement Professional Growth Plans.”
She and her husband, Jack R. Allen, Jr., have two children, Jack R. Allen III and Lori Elizabeth Allen.
