CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. Micah Spicer, a 2011 and 2022 Campbellsville University graduate, will present a Thanksgiving chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.

Spicer has served as the pastor of Kentucky Baptist churches for the past 11 years. He began his tenure at Third Baptist Church in June 2017.

He received his Ph.D. from Campbellsville University in management leadership and his Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministries from the university in 2011.

He also holds a Master of Divinity degree (with an emphasis in pastoral care and counseling) from the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky.

Spicer said his favorite part of being a pastor is preaching.

He said, “Preaching may well be the most important ministry task for me at Third Baptist Church. Not to diminish any of my other pastoral responsibilities, but preaching gives me the opportunity to stand at the intersection of God’s love and human need.”

He said, “Preaching happens in that holy space that I can offer a word of hope to hurting individuals.”

Jamie Lawrence, executive director of ministry and church outreach at Campbellsville University, said, “When you think on the vision that small group of people had when they gathered in 1906 to start the Russell Creek Academy, and you look around this campus today to see how it has blossomed and flourished into Campbellsville University, we need a day set aside to give thanks for all with which we have been blessed.”

Lawrence said that Thanksgiving is more than just a holiday; it is a mindset for worship.

“Having Dr. Spicer, a product of this university, come and share the word alongside our students, faculty and staff will be a beautiful day to give thanks,” Lawrence said.

Spicer and his wife, Sarah, are natives of Graves County, Ky.

The public is invited to the chapel address.

Chapels are televised on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 15), streamed on Campbellsville University’s Facebook page and can be found at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA4XbLolySSd7ntgt9WpXIGTjPtH2dOrB.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through various informative speakers and presentations.
