CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Anna Mary Byrdwell, a 1960 graduate of Campbellsville University who is a member of the Campbellsville University Board of Trustees, will be the chapel speaker at CU’s Heritage Day Wednesday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
Heritage Day at Campbellsville University is about reminiscing from where our traditions come, and Byrdwell, of Louisville, will be discussing some of these traditions along with the legacy of Campbellsville University.
The event is free and open to the public. The Heritage Day event is part of the weekly chapel services at Campbellsville University.

Byrdwell has worked with the Women’s Missionary Union of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and has been presented several awards including one recognizing her lifelong commitment to supporting the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program.
Heritage Day gives us time to pause and remember the traditions that laid the foundation for this institution and to renew our dedication to the university, its mission and goals, according to Tim Hooper, coordinator of distance learning and electronic resources librarian, who is chair of the committee planning the event.
Hooper said, “Heritage Day is a day celebrated once a year on the campus of Campbellsville University in which we take time to remember and reflect on those that have been here before us. There have been a lot of sacrifices made over the years by faculty, former presidents, trustees and a lot of the local folks.”
Hooper said, “It’s important for our current students to understand their roots, to understand where Campbellsville has come from and to be exposed to some of the history that has taken place over the years.”
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through of a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10) and are streamed live on the Internet.
