Campbellsville University theater to perform a Christmas Carol

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- Scrooge and his three Christmas ghosts are to take the stage again. Campbellsville University’s Department of Theater is partnering with Town Hall Productions to perform “A Christmas Carol” Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 8-11.

On Dec. 3, 8, 9, and 10, the play begins at 7 p.m. On Dec. 4 and Dec. 11, the play begins at 2:30 p.m. The play will be in the Russ Mobley Theater in the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville.

“A Christmas Carol,” modernly adapted from Charles Dickens’ novel, will be directed by Ray Hollenbach of Campbellsville.

“A Christmas Carol” tells the story of a bitter old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation into a gentler, kindlier man after visitations by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.

“This year we rewrote the script somewhat. We decided to do a gender switch with some main characters – like Scrooge, who will be played by a female,” Sarah Durham, cast member, said.

The cast includes Sarah Durham as Scrooge (Emily); Kelli Stanfield of C as Marley; Andrew Ward of as Bob Cratchit; Sarah Ward as Mrs. Cratchit; Jackie Johnson as Martha Cratchit; Gracyne Hash as Belinda Cratchit; Jacob Hayes as Peter Cratchit; Hannah Hansford as Tiny Tim; Aron McKinely as Scrooge’s nephew; Malorie Byrne as Scrooge’s nephew’s wife;Rachel Henderson as youngest Scrooge; Erin Shainfeld as younger Scrooge; Noah Hutchins as David and Scrooge’s fiancé; Matt DeSpain as Fezziwig and Ghost of Present; Deja Thompson as Jen and Ghost of Past; Tyler Litton as Ghost of Future; Irell Patterson as charity solicitor and mourner; CJ Calhoun as charity solicitor and mourner;Anna Peterson as dinner guest; Riley Phillips as dinner guest; Kristen DeLaGarza as office party girl and festive singer; Isaac Rogers as boy on the street; and Maryn Ward, Hope Hansford, Rachel Henderson, Elijah Rogers, Isaac Rogers, Grant Hays, Jackson Hays, Carynne Ritter, Justy Engle and Selah Engle as carolers and citizens.

Starr Garett, director of Campbellsville University theater, will be the technology director. Lori Bell will be in charge of costumes, and Holly Durham will be stage manager. Andrew Ward will be the producer, and Matt Nall, assistant to the director of theater, will also be director of set construction.

Tickets are on sale now. General admission will be $10. For Campbellsville University employees, military, seniors (65 and up), or children (12 and under) tickets are $7. For Campbellsville University students, tickets are $5.
