Campbellsville University theology professor to tell ‘What I did on my summer vacation’

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University professor of Old Testament and Hebrew, Dr. Dwayne Howell is scheduled to lecture in Badgett Academic Support Center’s Banquet Hall, Monday Oct. 17, 5-6 p.m., at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville.

Howell’s lecture will focus on his archeological dig in Jordan. This lecture is titled “What I did on my summer vacation.”

Howell’s lecture will be a part of the 2011 Biblical and Theological Lectures presented by Campbellsville University’s School of Theology.

Howell has taught at CU since 1997 when he began as an adjunct instructor. He is a 1982 graduate of Campbellsville University with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies/History. He received a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care in 1985, a Master of Theology in Old Testament in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Old Testament/Christian Preaching in 1993, all from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He was the 2008 Distinguished Tenured Professor at Campbellsville University.

Howell belongs to the Society of Biblical Literature, the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion, the National Association of Professors of Hebrew and Academy of Homiletics.

He has pastored Rolling Fork Baptist Church in Gleanings, Ky. since 2001 having served as pastor there from 1984 to 1991 also. He has also served as pastor of other churches in Taylor and Hardin counties.

Howell has been published in several publications.

He is the son of Joseph N. and Jeanetta Howell of Bowling Green, and he is married to Dr. Susan Howell, professor of psychology at Campbellsville University. They have two children: Katelyn and Patrick.
