CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University School of Music will host its final concert in the Noon Organ Recital Series on Tuesday, April 17 at 12:20 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
The public is invited to attend free of charge.
This concert will feature Dr. Wesley Roberts, CU professor of music, on the Farrand and Votey pipe organ in the Ransdell Chapel. He will perform with Campbellsville University professors Dr. Reese Land, associate professor of music/trumpet; Dr. William Budai, assistant professor of music; and Juliana Moura, instructor in voice.
Roberts has been teaching at CU since 1982. He is the author of articles and reviews in British, Dutch and American journals, and co-author with Maurice Hinson of “The Piano in Chamber Ensemble, 2nd Edition,” published in 2006.
Roberts is organist at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Louisville and has served as a visiting professor at the French Piano Institute in Paris and at Shanghai Normal University.
He has organized concert tours across Kentucky for international artists from France, Holland, Denmark, England and China, and has served additionally as president of three professional organizations, including the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, which granted him it’s 2005 Distinguished Service Award.
Land has been teaching at CU since 2007. He maintains an active trumpet studio with additional classroom responsibilities such as music appreciation for non-music majors, remedial music theory and brass methods for undergraduates, and a refresher course in music history for entering graduate students.
Land is an active chamber performer in the central Kentucky region and is often found playing in various ensembles including the Louisville Bach Society, the Evansville Philharmonic and most notably the Brass Company, a professional brass quintet.
Budai teaches undergraduate and graduate piano, piano pedagogy and music literature courses at CU.
He has been involved in several professional organizations including the College Music Society’s National Conference, the Kentucky Music Teachers Association State Conference, the Indiana Music Teachers Association State Conference and the Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League.
Moura is a 2008 graduate of Campbellsville University. She has appeared in numerous operas and was in the Young Artist Apprentice Program with the Kentucky Opera.
She was a finalist in the International Czech Competition in 2009. In 2008 Moura participated in the Young Artist Program of the Kentucky Opera and won both the Master Performance Award from Campbellsville University and the Gail Robinson Award from the University of Kentucky.
