CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. –Campbellsville University will host the third annual Derby Rose Gala Monday, April 25 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the university’s Winters Dining Hall, located at 411 N. Columbia Ave., Campbellsville.

The event is open to the public, and costs $100 per person. John Asher of Churchill Downs will be the featured speaker.

The purpose of the Derby Rose Gala, sponsored by CU’s Advancement Board, is to raise money for the scholarship fund, which benefits students who need extra financial help. Last year the gala raised nearly $17,000.

The dress code is black tie optional so guests may dress according to their preference of formality. Guests can come expecting to enjoy a meal with music provided by Campbellsville University’s Jazz Combo and the String Quartet.

Emma Revis, director of foundation relations, said, “Every year, we try to add something special and this year weather permitting, we will have a social hour on the veranda.”

Gwinn Hahn, chair of the Derby Rose Gala, said, “This year we are adding a live auction in addition to the silent auction. A wonderful array of donated items and packages await the highest bidders during the auction such as a signed photograph from jockey Pat Day, a signed book from Byron Crawford, and restaurant and vacation packages.”

The Derby Rose Gala would not be possible without all of the help and support of the Advancement Board, a group of 22 dedicated volunteers, Revis said.

Hahn said, “The Advancement Board is honored to sponsor the Derby Rose Gala and we acknowledge the team effort provided by the University to make this event possible. Our focus remains the raising of scholarship funds for the students at Campbellsville University.”

There will also be a Derby hat preview and sale event prior to the gala on March 26, in Mt. Washington, Ky., at the home of alumni Betty and Chester Porter. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with over 3,000 students offering 63 undergraduate programs, 17 master’s degrees and five postgraduate areas. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
