CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—Marianna McDonald, a Lexington artist, has an exhibit at the Campbellsville University Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, through Sept. 15.
She will give an artist talk at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 with a reception to follow from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m., both in the Art Building room 102. Her pastels are on display at the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery.
McDonald is a landscape artist from Lexington Kentucky. She uses soft pastels to create images from actual places.
McDonald stated, “I create images from actual places preferring to use nature’s information and inspiration for my resource.”
McDonald attended Murray State University and graduated in 1971, and trained in oils with a concentration on the figure. McDonald studied with Susan Ogilvie, Port Townshend, Wash.
McDonald focuses mainly on the landscape of Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill.
During the art exhibit reception, you’ll get to talk with McDonald and view her artwork. McDonald has had pieces in shows in New York, Kentucky, California, Ohio, and Tennessee.
McDonald has been featured in the “Pastel Only” Juried Exhibit- Pastel Society of America- New York, N.Y., “New Artists Show” Artists’ Attic, Lexington, Ky., “Viewpoint” Cincinnati Arts Club, Cincinnati, Ohio and many more.
McDonald has also been awarded many awards for her achievements like the 5th Place in Pastel 100- Pastel Journal Magazine, Best of Show-3rd Street, St. James Art Fair 2015, Best of Drawing 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015-AFB Woodlawn Art Fair, along with many more.
