“It was obvious that Dr. Magruder wanted to see us succeed in class. So thankful for instructors that enjoy their job and want to support their students with positivity,” a student commented on Dr. Robin Magruder, associate professor of education and undergraduate chair.
Magruder was presented the Campbellsville University Distinguished Faculty Award for 2019 at a recent chapel.
Randy Herron, a member of the Campbellsville University Advancement Board, made the presentation on behalf of the board.
Magruder has been a faculty member of Campbellsville University since 2013, first joining as an assistant professor of education. Previously teaching in the Kentucky public school system for 10 years, her background in education has shown her ability to go above and beyond to serve students.
In addition to the Distinguished Faculty Award of 2019, Magruder has won the faculty George Howell Earth Stewardship Award for the past two years, in which she used the awarded funds to purchase Project Learning Tree Curriculum for her elementary science methods candidates. Hosting workshops at the Clay Hill Memorial Forest where education candidates are trained to utilized Clay Hill resources in their future classrooms is also one of her many attributes.
Being chief presenter at the Kentucky Excellence in Educator Preparation conference on “Using Technology and Peer Assessment to Promote High Leverage Practices”; conducting sessions with first-generation college students and parents through the Diversity, Equity & Poverty Programs Division of Jefferson County Public Schools; collaborating as a lead paper presenter at the Education 2030 Agenda International Education Conference in Nigeria; and publishing a journal in Science and Children on “Understanding Human Impact,” as well as past publications in the Journal of Technology Education and Teaching Children Mathematics are all recent projects in which Magruder has been involved.
Magruder earned her Bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education Math and Social Studies from the University of Louisville, her Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Doctorate of Education in Instruction and Administration with an emphasis in math and technology education from the University of Kentucky.
Magruder is married to Jamie Magruder and has three children: Tyler, Evan and Lindsey Magruder.
