CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “We need to be reminded of these treasures, that’s what they are, historical treasures. If we don’t who will?” Stan McKinney, chair of the Department of Mass Communication who is an associate professor of journalism and a charter member of the Tri-County Car Club, said.
The public is welcome to see classics, customs and muscle cars from all eras on display at the Montgomery Library lawn. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon.
This year the Home- coming Car Show celebrates 29 years. The car show originally started as a way to show vehicles on campus alumni would recognize and remember from their years at the university. There is no entry fee, and there will be dash plaques for everyone.
“Mustangs, station wagons, old trucks, Rat Rods, anything and everything, old or new vehicles are welcomed,” McKinney said.
When rating cars, McKinney and the panel of judges look for creativity, condition, cleanliness and more. Awards will be given to the top 75 vehicles and will be given out around 2 p.m. before the football game that begins at 2:01 p.m.
This year’s car show will be held in-person, in comparison to last years that was held virtually due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. For more information on the car show, contact Stan McKinney at somckinney@forms.campbellsville.edu.
