CARWILE SPEAKS OF ‘THE NARROW ROAD TO LIFE’
AT CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY CHAPEL
By Hillary C. Wright, student news writer
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—“All of us are going to face forks in the road,” Dr. Joel Carwile, pastor of Valley View Church in Louisville, told his audience at Campbellsville University’s chapel Sept. 23.
In a message based on Matthew 7:13-14, Carwile spoke of the importance of making sound decisions and choices while still being young, and accepting Jesus Christ as your savior.
“Today’s choices bring tomorrow’s results,” Carwile said. “We all want to get to heaven, but there is only one way to get to heaven—that’s Jesus.”
“Some of you today are a broken road,” he told the students, faculty, staff and guests. “You don’t know why you’re here, but God has a plan for you. He’s the potter. We’re the clay. Will you allow him to shape you?”
Carwile also spoke of the many paths a person could take, including a morality road and a religious road.
“Good deeds will not get you to heaven. We spend more time cleaning up the outside instead of the inside. You get to heaven by taking Jesus Christ in your heart as your savior. I encourage you to find peace with God,” he said.
Carwile also led the campus revival at CU Sept. 21-24.
He is a member of the Campbellsville University Church Relations Council where he chairs the development committee. He is a 2008 CU master’s of theology graduate.
