CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Sara Clark, a senior from Campbellsville, Ky., is presenting her Senior Art Exhibit in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky., now through Nov. 19.
A reception for Clark’s art exhibit will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, at The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery.
According to her biography, Clark is proficient in creature design, sculpture, illustration and graphic design. Her primary focus in her art is visualizing what the world could be and what wonders could be hiding just out of sight.
“In my work I create creatures that blend in with everyday flora and fauna,” Clark said. “I look for spaces where unknown creatures can hide or where my characters would go about their daily lives. I want to make people stop and look a little closer rather than only seeing the mundane routine of everyday life.”
Clark will graduate from Campbellsville University in December with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design, with plans to attend Art Center University online and earn her Master of Fine Arts in illustration and creature design. Her long-term goal is to illustrate books and have her creatures brought to life on screen.
Imagination is at the center of everything Clark does artistically.
“Imagination, I believe, is what makes the world turn around,” Clark said. “Without it we wouldn’t have phones or electricity. It took someone’s imagination to come up with these ideas and make them a reality. Unfortunately, there seems to be a decline in creativity.”
Through her work, Clark said she wants to “reignite that spark of creativity and imagination in people to see what things can be, rather than only what they are.”

In 2018, Clark’s work was featured in a Mascaraed Art Gala “pop-up” show at Campbellsville University. Her work was also featured in 2018 as part of a student-juried show at Campbellsville University, in which she placed second.
Clark has done graphic design work for the Taylor County Public Library, working with the library’s director, Cherita Barlow, to make and redesign the Brown Bag Book Club logo and helping to design Thanksgiving and Christmas banners.
She also created and designed a logo for the Division of Natural Science at Campbellsville University.
Clark is the daughter of Jeannie Clark, general manager of WLCU-TV/FM, assistant professor of broadcasting and director of broadcast services at Campbellsville University.
