Job Title: Newport High School College Coach

Job Type: Full-time

Dates: August 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023

Schedule/Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift

Pay/Salary: $1810 gross pay (living allowance) (taxes will be taken out of this amount). Pay (living allowance) is disbursed once a month on the last weekday of the month.

Ability to commute/relocate: Newport, KY 41071: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Willingness to Travel: 25% (Preferred)

Kentucky College Coaches is an AmeriCorps program serving Kentucky high school students since 2010! Our program model is helping students increase their ACT scores, identify career goals, find scholarship money, and have a solid plan to guide them after high school. The evaluation of the program shows that students who spend time with a Kentucky College Coach go to college at a rate 16% higher than students who don’t have a coach. This program works – participating students are more prepared for college and careers!

 

Description of position:

As a Kentucky College Coaches AmeriCorps member, you will mentor students from low-income and underserved backgrounds. You will help students (grades 9-12) navigate the milestones they face in high school as they move toward graduation and decide what to do next. You will have a group of students whom you will meet with individuals and in small groups throughout the year, providing coaching geared to the needs of individual students. You will also help with the whole school’s efforts to help all students become college and work-ready. Your one-year commitment will change lives!

Salary: $1,810 per month in living allowance, less FICA and other applicable taxes

Schedule/Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift

Job Type: Full-time

Dates: ASAP – May 31, 2023 (Possible extension to 7/31/2023) *

*If funding allows, College Coaches who commit to returning in August 2023 will have the option to serve in June and July 2023 with living allowance and benefits.

  • Associates degree or 2 years of college
  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Mentoring experience
