CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—Allen Copenhaver of Somerset, Ky., has been employed as instructor in criminal justice at Campbellsville University’s Somerset Center, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University.
Copenhaver is a 2003 graduate of Somerset High School. He graduated with an associate degree from Somerset Community College in 2006; his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in 2008 and 2010, respectively; and is currently working on his doctorate in applied sociology at the University of Louisville while focusing on crime and justice issues.
Copenhaver has served as an adjunct instructor at CU since 2011.
Copenhaver served at the Center for Rural Development on the Homeland Security Technology Team from 2010 to 2012, and with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System as an adjunct criminal justice instructor.
Copenhaver has held professional memberships at the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is published in the International Journal of Contemporary Sociology for his work on “Cultural Value Orientations and Lethal Violence.”
Copenhaver is the husband of Brandi Wilson Copenhaver and has two stepsons, Jaylen and Jamison Coomer, and a newborn son Brees Allen. He is the son of Rodney and Tammie Copenhaver of Somerset, Ky.
