CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “Language is a treasure that will follow you,” Andrea Giordano, assistant director of ESL, said at a ceremony recognizing students who recently completed the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Campbellsville University.
Campbellsville University’s ESL program teaches English to non-native speakers of English, and prepares them for full-time study at Campbellsville University. Eight students were recognized in the completion ceremony July 27.
Giordano said she and the other ESL instructors are proud of the students and the program. “When you have a conversation in English it is a testament to our institute,” she said. “You are an ambassador of our ESL program and the ESL Institute. When you enter Campbellsville University this fall, wear it proudly as a badge of achievement.”

Giordano said she has several hopes for the students as they have gone through and completed the program. She hopes they will “develop a love for English and American culture,” “make lifelong connections with people from other cultures,” “is impacted by the love of Jesus Christ,” and “is successful beyond ESL and in whatever you set out to do.”
“Congratulations. You can speak with 2 billion more people in the world now.”
Luis Gutierrez of Caracas, Venezuela, was recognized as the outstanding ESL student for fully embracing English and American culture.
