CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The “WAVE 3 Listens” morning television show featuring Campbellsville University was recorded live from her Louisville Center June 1. In the hour-long broadcast, the show’s host interviewed President Michael V. Carter, administrative council members, deans and coaches highlighting CU’s mission, academics, athletics and regional centers, complete with vignette videos by CU students.
The show, produced by Jeannie Clark, TV4 technician specialist at CU, brought together talent from within the new areas of emphasis in broadcast journalism. Students receive hands-on experience in broadcasting and digital media, journalism, photojournalism and public relations as part of the Mass Communication Department at CU.
Special guests on the show were Dr. J. Chester Porter, chairman, and Maria L. Bouvette, president/CEO, of Louisville’s Porter Bancorp Inc., who have given the lead gifts for the expansion of the School of Business and Economics which will now bear their names. The J. Chester Porter-Maria L. Bouvette School of Business and Economics will be housed in a new building to be built between Ransdell Chapel and Broadway Hall on the main campus.
The owner of Porter & Associates law firm, Porter earned the juris doctorate degree from the University of Louisville after receiving his bachelor’s degree in economics from Campbellsville University in 1962, which named him Distinguished Alumnus in 1985.
The show’s live broadcast from the Louisville Center continues Campbellsville University’s broadening scope as it grows past 3,000 students and establishes more regional centers for student flexibility.
“This is another, among many ways, in which we are working very hard to share the story and mission of Campbellsville University to an increasingly growing audience,” Carter said.
