CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s Office of Alumni Relations will host an informational meeting on the new Bluegrass Alumni Chapter at deSha’s restaurant in downtown Lexington on Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
All alumni in the Lexington area are invited to attend the meeting, with RSVPs due by Oct. 13.
Shannon Clark, director of alumni relations at CU, said the chapter will host events in the Lexington area for alumni who want to become more involved with their alma mater.
Clark said her vision for alumni chapters is to “provide opportunities for alumni living within the same region to come together and participate in some great activities, outside the one time a year our office travels to their area for an alumni event.”
“Chapters can be a great networking tool, and the possibilities are endless! They are also a great way alumni can exclusively plan events, group outings and projects,” Clark said.
“We ask that our chapters participate in at least one fun event a year as a group, and one service project,” she said.
Campbellsville University recently launched a Hardin/LaRue County Alumni Chapter, and that group hosted a summer picnic at Freeman Lake Park, and for a service project they have coordinated an effort to establish an endowed scholarship for a student in their region who plans to attend CU.
Clark said Campbellsville University’s Alumni Association is planning to host activities on campus for regional chapter members, such as tailgates and reunions.
“Unlike other Alumni Associations who charge membership to be involved in an alumni chapter, the chapters we set up do not require dues. However, we do encourage all of our chapter members to give back to their alma mater, and also tell prospective students about CU,” Clark said.
Clark said the chapter kick-off at deSha’s will help identify the interest in a Bluegrass Alumni Chapter, and it will also generate feedback from alumni on projects and events in which they want to be involved.
“It will be an informal, informative session where we can create some dialogue with Lexington-area alumni,” she said.
