CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “It’s so crucial that we go straight to God in prayer,” said Jonathan Richards, a 2018 graduate of Campbellsville University, at The Vine service on March 16.

He read from the first six chapters of Nehemiah, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 12:12, James 1:12 and Luke 9:23 to speak on the importance of having faith in the power of prayer.

“God is always listening to our prayers,” he said. “We have to have faith and trust that He’s receiving our thoughts and praise.”

Richards said going to God with everything is the key to overcoming uncertainty and brokenness.

“We know that we are a broken people. We know that we have separated ourselves from God,” he said.

Richards said self-doubt must be combatted by going to God in order to avoid being torn down.

“He ultimately is the one to fix those problems,” he said.

“Prayer is where the planning starts,” Richards said. “It should ultimately be the starting point for anything.”

Having the faith to pray, plan and act on the leadership of God is the way we should go about our lives, he said. When we are unsure about something, God is always there to reassure us. He said we are never alone because Christ creates a community of support that is always available to us.

“God surrounds us with a body of believers to help affirm those things and to help support us,” he said.

It is crucial to trust in God’s ability, he said. Having faith through oppositions by praying is a pivotal part of life.
