LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University’s Louisville Education Center, in collaboration with WFIA 94.7FM and Salem Communications, sponsored a community workshop for Dr. Tony Evans, president and founder of the National Church Adopt-a-School Initiative on July 18.
Over 50 church and community leaders from Kentucky and Indiana attended the one day workshop, which was led by Bill Collins, vice president for the Urban Alternative, and Charles Wolford II, associate pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. The National Church Adopt-a-School Initiative aims to equip urban and suburban churches across America to forge partnerships with public schools for improving their communities.
“Campbellsville University – Louisville is committed to a deeper and more involved relationship with the Louisville Metro and surrounding communities,” said Chris Sanders, Director of the CU Louisville Center. “Partnering with WFIA and the Adopt-a-School Initiative was an easy decision to make as it speaks to the true Christian outreach and development of servant leaders that Campbellsville University exhibits across its academic enterprise.”
The six-hour workshop offered pastors, church and community leaders the building blocks for starting and enhancing the delivery of social services to urban youth and their families.
Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with over 3,600 students offering 63 undergraduate programs, 17 master’s degrees, 5 post-graduate areas and 8 pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
