The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl, hosted by Campbellsville University, on Saturday, Nov. 19, will created a unique opportunity for broadcasting and digital media students in the courses MAC 275 and MAC 175.

The CU Sports network will expand for this event to include both mass communication students and staff. The Victory Bowl is a national invitational bowl championship game that will result in widespread coverage.

Dr. Keith Spears, vice president for regional and professional education, said, “This is an exciting opportunity for our students. They get to participate in nationally recognized phenomena in American universities.”

Crew call for the students is 11 a.m. for those working with the live television broadcast on WLCU-TV, Comcast Channel 10. Students from both classes will be involved in the set up of equipment, run-through, operation during the game and tear down. In addition to live game coverage, students will provide postgame coverage of the championship. Students from MAC 275 will also broadcast live before the game on WLCU 88.7 FM with on-location interviews from 11 a.m. to noon.

“It can be a great career-builder for them. Very few mass communication students have this chance to include such an important body of work in their portfolios,” Spears said.

Students involved from MAC 275 include: Susie Gaona of Springfield, Ky.; Caleb Harris of Chicago, Ill.; Michael McBride of Visalia, Calif.; and Don Smith of Campbellsville. Those from MAC 175 include: Tyler Bland of Campbellsville; Leah Franklin of Columbia, Ky.; Justin Henderson of Greensburg, Ky.; Lindsey Hines of Scarborough, Maine; Michael McBride of Visalia, Calif; Matt Payton of Campbellsville; Matt Rafferty of Campbellsville; Nicole Sassenberg of Bradfordsville, Ky.; Matt Schmuck of Campbellsville; Kevin Thomas of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and Austin Yates of Campbellsville.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT, with the CU Sports Network radio broadcast beginning at 12:30 p.m. with long-time college football broadcaster Jim Freeman and Adam Smith. Television coverage will begin at 12:45 p.m.
