CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Amanda Smith, secretary to vice president for finance and administration at Campbellsville University, has been awarded the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage Council.

The Silver Beaver Award, introduced in 1931, is a council-level distinguished serve award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. Silver award are the highest awards in the BSA.
Smith’s “actions and volunteerism has brought Scouting to boys who otherwise would not be involved,” according to the ceremony program. “Her efforts have also focused on training the volunteers in rural Central Kentucky.”
Smith started in Pack 616 in 2001 where she began as a Den Leader and eventually took the role of Committee Chair. Her involvement later moved to Pack 777. She has served as committee chair, Webelos Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Tiger Den Leader, Pack Trainer and Pack Treasurer.
Smith has also served with the Day Camp staff and served as the director in 2004. She has been a member of the District Program Committee, Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, Family Friends of Scouting Chair, District Committee Chair and Cub Scout Training Chair.
Smith has also been active on the council level. She recently served as the Cub Scout Vice Chair for the record breaking Centennial Jamboree in 2010.
Smith is the wife of Gary E. Smith. They have two sons, Eagle Scout Steven T. Smith and Second Class Scout Nicholas C. Smith.

Doty, retired CU English professor, 1993; Robert L. Miller Jr., 1994; Dr. Robert Street, professor of computer information systems at CU, 1996; Dwayne Cutt, 2003; Dr. Steve Hinton, 2006; and Otto Tennant, vice president for finance and administration at CU, 1996 from the Ohio Council.
