CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TO HOST FALL PLAY ‘MR. A’S AMAZING MAZE PLAYS’

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Fall is here, and Homecoming is coming up fast. With Homecoming comes the annual Campbellsville University fall play that has become somewhat of a tradition on campus. This year’s play is titled “Mr. A’s Amazing Maze Plays,” written by Alan Ayckbourn, and will be showing Oct. 8-11.
Show times will be Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. For reservations, call 270-789-5266.
Starr Garrett, director of theater who is directing the play, said, “This is a child friendly play that everyone will enjoy.” Ticket prices are $5 for general admission and $2.50 for children 12 and under.
The play’s main characters, Suzy and her dog Neville, take an adventure through Mr. Accousticus’ mansion after voices turn up missing.
There is a catchy twist to this year’s play as the audience will get to help decide the decisions that Suzy and Neville make once they’re in the mansion. Suzy and Neville will be running, climbing and sliding through the mansion on their quest for the lost voices, all at the audiences’ discretion.
Once their journey through the mansion is complete, they will need the audiences’ help to find their way out while they are fleeing to leave.
Suzy is played by Lacy Mudd of Campbellsville, Ky.; Neville is play by Kiel Thorlton of Auburn, Ky.
Other characters are: Melody Hall of Rockfield, Ky., as Mother; Andrew McNeill of Louisville, Tenn., as Father; Jesse Reese of Old Bridge, N.J., as Mr. Accousticus; David Emerson of Dunnville, Ky. ,as Mr. Passerby; Amanda Edmondson of Morganfield, Ky., as 1st Narrator; and Farrin Marlow of Campbellsville, Ky. as 2nd Narrator.
Mance Chappell of Dawson Springs, Ky., and Joe Mills of Lebanon, Ky., serve as sound technicians; Joshua Pennington of Liberty, Ky., serves as stage and publicity manager; Kim Hough of Louisville, Ky., and Katy Cox of Campbellsville, Ky., serve as stage crew; Amber Wimsatt of Elizabethtown, Ky., is lighting technician; Chellsey Phillips of Fort Knox, Ky., is the box office manager; and Lydia Adcock of Campbellsville, Ky., works with props for the production.
Edmondson, Wimsatt and Pennington work with set construction.
Erica Moon, assistant to the director of theater at Campbellsville University, serves as technical director of the play.
