CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University is presenting a “Opera’s Greatest Moments” concert Tuesday, April 10 at 8 p.m. at The Gheens Recital Hall, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
The concert will consist of popular choruses, solos, duets, trios and other ensemble numbers from opera literature.
The public is invited to the event, which is free of charge.
Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music, is the director for the event with Carla Farias of Joao Pessoa, Brazil as pianist.
Participants are: Margareth Miguel of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Eunkyung Bae of Busan, South Korea; Ping Zhou of Beijing, China; Amelia Herrin of Elizabethtown, Ky.;
Fern Thomas of Madisonville, Ky.; Heather Heim of Leitchfield, Ky.; Ian McGuffin of Bardstown, Ky.; Jericho McCoy of Campbellsville, Ky.; Jianjia Wang of Beijing, China; Jim Davis of Paducah, Ky.; Hahae Jung of Pohang, South Korea; Bradley and Juliana Moura, instructor in music with the School of Music.
Literature to be performed include: “Anvil Chorus” from II Trovatore with a performance by the entire chorus and “Stride la Vampa” from II Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi with a solo by Margareth Miguel; “Bridal Chorus” from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner with the entire chorus;
“Papageno/Popagena Duet” by Die Zauberflote by Mozart, duet by Amelia Herrin and Ian McGuffin; “Der Holle Rache” (The Queen of the Night) from Die Zauberflote by Mozart, solo by Heather Heim;
“Riconosci in Questo Amplesso” by Mozart from Le Nozze di Figaro with a sextet including Eunkyung Bae, Jericho McCoy, Ian McGuffin, Hahae Jung, Heather Heim and Dr. Mark Bradley;
“Sull Aria” by Mozart from Le Nozze di Figaro with a duet by Fern Thomas and Ping Zhou;
“Cruel! Perche Finora” from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart with a duet by Ian McGuffin and Ping Zhou; “Brindisi (Libiamo)” by Verdi from La Traviata with a duet with chorus by Jianjia Wang and Heather Heim;
“Sister Angelica Death Scene” from Suor Angelica by Puccini with solo by Eunkyung Bae and Nun’s Chorus; “o Mimi, Tu Piu Non Torni” from La Boheme by Puccini with a duet by Jianjia Wang and Ian McGuffin;
“The Gypsy Card Scene” from Carmen by Georges Bizet with a trio by Amelia Herrin, Fern Thomas and Margareth Miguel; “Habanera” from Carmen with a solo by Margareth Miguel with chorus; and “Nessun Dorma” from Turandot by Puccini with a solo sung by three tenors, Jianjia Wang, Jim Davis and Jericho McCoy and chorus.
