CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TO HOST DR. JOEL CARWILE
AT CHAPEL SEPT. 23 AND FOR REVIVAL

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. Joel Carwile, senior pastor of the Valley View Church in Louisville, Ky., with over 4,500 members, will speak at Campbellsville University’s Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
Carwile will be will be speaking during the week of Campus Revival. He will be speaking nightly, Monday, Sept. 21-Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 o’clock in the Ransdell Chapel.
Carwile has been as a “straight forward revival style preacher” by those who have heard him speak. His church, Valley View Baptist Church, continues to grow with multiple weekend worship services, a mid-week service, Life Group and care group classes meeting on and off-campus, multiple outreach and community ministries that reach thousands.
Born in Athens, Ala., Carwile made a commitment to Christ at age 8 and was baptized by the Shanghai Baptist Church.
He was called to preach at age 17 while attending the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in rural Limestone County. In 1989, at the age of 24, he accepted the call to preach and was licensed and ordained by the First Union Baptist Church of Athens, Ala.
Carwile began his ministry in 1989 as interim pastor of the New Grove Baptist Church in Blanche, Tenn. After a short tenure at New Grove, he was called to the First Union Baptist Church where he helped take the congregation grow from 19 in Sunday school and 26 in worship service his first Sunday to over 400 members.
Carwile accepted the pastorate at Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served for over 13 years.
In the summer of 2007, Valley View Baptist Church called Carwile to become their senior pastor. In his first two years, Carwile has seen Valley View grow by nearly 900 members. In January 2009, he celebrated his 20th year of ministry, Carwile is married to his wife of 17 years, Jo, and they have one child together, Zeke.
Carwile has earned a bachelor of science degree in religion from Liberty University, a master of ministry and doctor of ministry from Covington Theological Seminary, a master of theology degree from Campbellsville University and is pursuing either a doctor of philosophy or educational doctorate degree in organizational leadership.
He has been granted an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Coral Ridge Baptist University.
Carwile and his wife, Jo, have a son, Ezekiel “Zeke.”
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through of a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU-TV-4 (Comcast Cable channel 10) and are streamed live on the Internet.
