CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. –– Dr. Sandra Kroh, assistant professor of English as a second language, has been promoted to associate professor of English as a second language, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University

Kroh also serves as director of the English as a second language institute.
Kroh, who has been employed at CU since 2005, has served as academic coordinator at the Intensive English Institute at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. where she taught courses in speaking, listening, grammar and writing.
She has also served at Jingzhou Teachers College in Jingzhou, China and Jingzhou Central Hospital.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in English and German from Milligan College in Milligan College, Tenn., a master of arts degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages and linguistics from Ball State University and a doctorate in applied linguistics from Ball State.
Kroh and her son spent three years as missionaries in China where she worked for the government’s publishing house helping to rewrite the middle school and high school English textbooks, which are used by approximately 80 percent of Chinese students.
Her publications include “Classroom Management,” “New Senior English for China, Book 1” and a series of books on junior English for China.
Kroh was voted the best teacher in the National Teacher Training Program by the Chinese teachers in 2002.
She has one son, Devin, and is the daughter of Bart and Ann Richley of Toledo, Ohio. Kroh resides in Campbellsville.
