CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. Twyla K. Hernandez, an author and missionary, has been employed at Campbellsville University as an assistant professor of Christian missions, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University.

Hernandez served as the director of Great Commission Ministries from 2000 to 2005, and has served as director of the Hispanic Baptist Bible Institute since 2005.
She was a Journeyman Missionary to Argentina from 1993 to 1996 and has participated in multiple other mission trips worldwide.
Hernandez is the author of several works including a chapter in “Rural Church Planting: A Missiological Primer,” titled “Hispanic Church Planting in the Rural Context” published by the North American Mission Board in 2010; a chapter in “Ready? Preparing for the Pressures of Church Planting” titled “When Life and Ministry Take Over,” published by the North American Mission Board in 2009; and “New Church: Multi-tasking,” which appeared in “On Mission” magazine in 2009.
She also wrote “The Great Commission in the Hispanic Community,” a chapter in “The Challenge of the Great Commission,” published by Pinnacle Publishers in 2005. She has also been published in “Profile of the Greater Louisville Area,” commissioned by the Billy Graham Association prior to his crusade in 2000.
Hernandez received her bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1993, after which she attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary graduating in 1999 with a Master of Divinity. She also received her doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2005.
Hernandez is the wife of Jose Clemente Hernandez, and the daughter of the late James A. and Barbara Fagan.
