CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. William Budai, assistant professor of piano at Campbellsville University, has been promoted to associate professor of piano, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University.
Budai of Campbellsville, who also serves as interim associate dean for the School of Music, was the recipient of the Non-Tenured Faculty Award in fall 2010 at Campbellsville University, and has served at the university since 2008.
Budai came to Campbellsville University from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He received a bachelor of music in music education (keyboard) from Central Michigan University in 1992; a master of music in piano performance/pedagogy from Bowling Green State University in 1995, and his Ph.D. in music education/piano pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma in 2005.
At Campbellsville University, he teaches both undergraduate and graduate piano and piano pedagogy classes as well as music literature. He has also conducted graduate piano classes in Taiwan and South Korea, and has been a participating faculty with the Kentucky Institute for International Studies study abroad program teaching in Salzburg, Austria.
Budai has given numerous presentations and has been involved in several professional organizations including the College Music Society’s National Conference, the Kentucky Music Teachers Association State Conference, the Indiana Music Teachers Association State Conference and the Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League.
He is on the board of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association and is president of the Central Kentucky Teachers Association.
He and his wife, Marilee, are volunteer music ministers in Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Lebanon, Ky. They have two children, Annalynn and Brenden. He is the son of Diane Budai of Gladwin, Mich., and the late James Budai.
