The Student’s ministry exists to see students encounter Jesus in an authentic way. Helping them and their parents to grow in wisdom and knowledge of Jesus. Equipping them to do the work of the church in their daily life, for the glory of God alone. The Branch is a fun and interactive ministry setting where students can be themselves, build relationships with other believers, and learn about the goodness of God.

Role: The goal of the Student Pastor position at First Baptist Church London is to show the love of God to students through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, authentic worship, intentional discipleship, and creative fellowship.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direction and vision in the day-to-day running of the student ministry.
  2. Work in harmony with the other members of the First Baptist staff and volunteer teams.
  3. Help to lead and develop the Students Worship Team.
  4. Be present and active on school campuses and after school activities
  5. Actively engage in weekly staff meetings.
  6. Commit to study and message preparation for students and be willing/able to preach on Sunday mornings when called on.
  7. Help to recruit and equip leaders for the student ministry.
  8. Engage in weekly meaningful small group times.
  9. Plan and execute special events throughout the year (Camp, Mission Trips, Fall Retreat, Ski Trip, etc.).
  10. Learn how to oversee and maintain a yearly budget.
  11. Help to run and maintain the student ministry social media pages.
  12. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Including, but not limited to, all major church activities.
  13. Develop sound communication skills with students, parents, volunteers, staff, and church members spanning a large generational gap.
  14. Be an active and willing participant in the life and ministry of First Baptist Church.

Qualifications:

  1. A committed Christian living in accordance with the Word of God whose moral character models the Christian life.
  2. Is in agreement with the constitution and bylaws of First Baptist London as well as accepts and embraces doctrine found in the BFM 2000.
  3. A student of God’s Word with a commitment to learning in humility.
  4. Ability to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful, teachable, and sensitive to God’s Spirit in leadership.
  5. A servant of Jesus and others.
  6. Highly self-motivated and organized.
  7. Preferred: 4-year degree either finished or in-progress.
