The WHAS11 Investigative Researcher will embrace WHAS11’s standard of news reporting and investigative excellence while boldly advancing the On Your Side brand across multiple platforms. The Investigative Researcher is looking for a rigorous, critical thinker with research experience. Requirements:
- Work on long-form investigations and day-of stories, and digital projects
- Procure and analyze data from local, state, and federal government agencies; structure and clean data using Access, Excel, or other software.
- Use public documents and online sources of data, assorted internet sites, and social media that will provide insight during breaking news.
- Apply knowledge of open records and FOIA law.
- Utilize data visualization tools such as Google Fusion Tables, Google maps, mapping and graphic design software.
- Research and pitch story ideas, write and copy-edit stories, confirm tips and, at times, and conduct on-camera interviews of story subjects.
- Perform other tasks as required by News Director and Executive Producer.
