Mapes to retire as Campbellsville University’s director of financial aid in March

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After 20 years of service at Campbellsville University, Chris Mapes, director of financial aid, will be retiring on March 31.

Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, said, “As long as I have been president, Chris has been with our university, working with students and helping them to secure the financial resources needed to purse their education. She is a blessing and will be greatly missed by many.”

“Chris will be greatly missed,” Tim Judd, vice president for finance (CFO), said. “She always went above and beyond for the students here and has impacted so many lives in her 20 years of service.  I am grateful for the exemplary way she has led the financial aid department serving thousands of students with excellence.  She is highly respected in the financial aid profession and has been a tremendous asset to Campbellsville University.”

A 2007 Campbellsville University alumnae, Mapes has worked in the financial aid profession for 31 years and is a certified financial aid administrator.

Mapes is a member of the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA), the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

While an active member of KASFAA for 30 years, Mapes has held the position of both president and treasurer. She received the association’s highest honor, the Herb Vescio Distinguished Service Award in 2011, has presented numerous credentialing and best practice sessions at conferences and has chaired numerous committees.

As a member of SASFAA, Mapes served as chair of the budget and finance committee, the annual conference committee and the ad hoc committee on conference handbook re-write. She was also a conference presenter.

Mapes was a conference presenter and moderator and mentor for the association’s mentorship program for NASFAA.

She was also a frequent presenter at the College Board’s annual PowerFAIDS conference.

Mapes is a charter member of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) Advisory Group for student financial aid programs and administration.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Campbellsville University in 2007.

Mapes is married to Bob Mapes. She has two daughters, Tammy Combs and Susan Campbell, and four grandchildren: Hannah, Lindsey, Braydon and Avery.
