Position Description
HOURS:
(Part-time position) Participation in all church services designated by the body of Columbia Baptist Church: Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening, as well as special services (revival, concerts, Vacation Bible School, etc.). Other hours to be determined with the Senior Pastor to accomplish the mission of the pastoral staff as outlined in the job duties.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a Christian, who is God-called to this ministry

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in church leadership or youth/children’s ministry


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Primary function is to serve the students and families of students in the church; to lead students to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. To participate in the outreach mission of the church in ministering to students in the community and to provide Christian education based on Biblical teachings. To serve as a role model for students in the church and community.


MINISTER OF STUDENTS JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Organize and oversee all aspects of the middle school and high school student ministry. It is anticipated that the middle school and high school students will be divided, each with its own classes and lessons appropriate for the age groups.

2. Organize youth small group Bible study opportunities for Wednesday nights and Sunday morning and nights.

3. Plan and implement regular fellowships and outings for students.

4. Develop additional discipleship events such as retreats, seminars and youth Vacation Bible School.

5. Cultivate relationships with parents of the students.

6. Organize and oversee annual Youth Revival.

7. Participate in ministerial association, Church Council, and deacon’s meetings, as requested.

8. Prepare an annual youth budget to be submitted to Budget and Finance Committee.

9. Aid in worship leadership, as requested (e.g., prayer, Lord’s Supper, teaching/preaching, baptism, creative ministries)

10. Assist in the hospital visitation.

11. Assist in the counseling ministry of the church, as requested.

12. Meet with the Columbia Baptist Church staff, as requested.

13. Develop programming and activities for summer engagement for students.
