Position Description
Community Sustainability VISTA:
The Community Sustainability VISTA will ensure that Brighton Center is a leader in green stewardship, leading efforts in our community garden, and creating opportunities for donors to bring new life to their used clothing and other donated items at our thrift store. They ensure access to gardening education and provide access for garden stakeholders to grow their own fresh food in their neighborhoods. Over the next three years, Thrifting on Eastern will become a local leader in creative reuse of items, showing shoppers and donors pathways to reuse things that would otherwise end up in the landfill.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Background check required
- An interest in sustainability and environmental practices
- Experience with marketing tools and social media management preferred

Position Description
NKU Care Closet Coordinator VISTA:
The mission of NKU’s Care Closet is to offer free clothing to assist NKU students with finding appropriate interview wear along with everyday needs. The Care Closet Coordinator will support the logistics and organization of the Care Closet at NKU in the University Center. The main purpose of this position is to support the campus population in accessing the services available in the CARE Closet – whether that is promoting the availability, forging partnerships, or scheduling the house of operation. This project will also liaise with the CARE Closet in Newport to stock the space with clothing not donated directly to the on-campus facility.
Qualifications
- HS Degree/GED
- Some post-secondary experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision

Kentucky College Coaches on Campus maintains that all students deserve equal opportunity, access, and support with their education. The purpose of the mentor program is to ensure that students, especially underserved and marginalized students (e.g. first-generation college-going, low-income, minority, and veteran) get the information, knowledge, and coaching they need to attain their educational goals. Kentucky College Coaches will support the NKU Norse Skolars program by assisting Fall 2021 incoming students in making a successful academic and social transition into college as well as offering information and services to help them persist to their Sophomore year. In addition, Kentucky College Coaches will support the Office of Admissions by assisting in the recruitment of the Fall 2022 class, specifically working with underserved students from Cincinnati Public Schools and River City Schools.
Position Description:
The NKU Admissions Coach will work with a cohort of students from the incoming class and provide mentoring using the “FAB-C” model of financial, academic, being, and career. The Admissions Coach will work within a team of current staff and will partner with University colleagues (specifically University Connect and Persist) to provide appropriate support services for incoming and first-time students. In addition, the member will support the recruitment of the incoming Fall 2022 class, host monthly check-ins for current Norse Skolars, and serve as a coach to support and guide underserved and marginalized students. The Admissions Coach will receive training on mentoring best practices and working with under-represented groups.
Responsibilities:
- Represent students, the University, and AmeriCorps
- Attend all training and meetings
- Meet with the site supervisor when necessary
- Contact mentees regularly and keep up on and document your time commitment
- Assist staff with programs and community service activities
- Recruit volunteers when necessary for a group or large events
Desired Qualifications:
- Act as an experienced guide and a trusted and caring advocate
- Commit to training, student contact, and documentation requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to be a positive and productive team member
- Full-time mentors must have an undergraduate degree
