WEB EDITOR (PART TIME)
WPSD Local 6 has an immediate opening for a web editor. You will write and edit stories for our website, wpsdlocal6.com. In addition, you will provide content on our social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You will also be responsible for sending push alerts from our Local 6 app. A web editor will update news many times each day, check and respond to social media comments routinely, post commercial and promotional material, monitor web traffic and report potential problems. You will also help your EP keep the news team on track with their digital responsibilities.
Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure during breaking news situations, and communicate effectively with a variety of people in the organization is essential. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or working toward a degree in journalism or related fields is required. Familiarity with Internet applications such as Photoshop is important, in addition to SEO best practices. Editor must have superior writing and editing skills, self-driven, and be organized, task-oriented and deadline-driven.

NEWS PRODUCER
WPSD Local 6, the dominant legacy NBC affiliate in Paducah, Kentucky (84th DMA), requires a dynamic writer with solid news judgment who can become a leader in our newsroom. You must have a flair for production values, showcasing meaningful breaking news, live elements, social/interactive media platforms, and vibrant graphics to tell compelling news stories. You also love helping reporters craft extraordinary work. If you are on the road to news management, this is where it starts. Previous experience as a producer preferred. STUDIO OPERATOR (PART-TIME, NIGHTS/WEEKENDS)
Going to college and need a job with a schedule that complements your school schedule? Looking for a second job or just wanting to get your foot in the door to a media career? WPSD-TV has an immediate opening for a part-time studio operator.
Intrigued? Here is what you’ll be doing:
You’ll prepare the studio and act as floor director for live newscasts and recording sessions, train for master control operation to monitor programming, run automation software, ingest programming and commercials and fill out programming logs.
You’ll also perform light janitorial duties as assigned. The work schedule fluctuates, based on the needs of programming and newscasts, but you’ll mostly work weeknights and weekend newscasts.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Must have good eyesight, hearing, clear speech and the ability to work on ladders and able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
