CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University’s Distinguished Alumna has become notable for her teaching and was recognized for such during Homecoming.

Lindy Forbes (’87) served as an educator in Barren, Green and Hart county school systems of which the last 10 years were spent teaching science to middle schoolers.

She is a native of Hart County and graduated from Hart County High School. Her degree from CU is in business, and she attended Western Kentucky University to complete her certification in special education.

She retired three years ago and is enjoying writing, painting and traveling. She is also a “major history buff,” according to Darryl Peavler, director of alumni relations.

Peavler said, “Lindy’s servant leadership and love of people are simply what Campbellsville University is about.”

When speaking of her time at Campbellsville, she said three professors came to mind – Dr. Frank Cheatham and the late Tommy Clark and Bobby Himes. She said these three professors cared for their students.

She said Cheatham always had time to explain things and was always available. She said Clark and Himes were “just always so inviting and welcoming.”

Peavler said these men “have touched the lives of thousands of students who have come through Campbellsville College/University.”

Peavler also honored Forbes’ mother, Betty Forbes, who was not able to attend the Homecoming reception. Betty Forbes was named Honorary Alumna for her giving nature and the way she raised her family. Lindy Forbes said it wasn’t a rare occurrence to have 50-60 people at their house for Sunday lunch.
