Organist Rodney Barbour to perform concert on Oct. 10 at Campbellsville University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Rodney Barbour will be performing a concert on the historic Farrand and Votey Organ on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

Barbour has presented organ concerts with CU’s Noon Organ Recital Series twice in recent years and has given master classes for the organ majors. During this visit he will be performing concert pieces and hymn arrangements for organ by J.S. Bach, Leo Sowerby, Henri Mulet, J.G. Walther, Johann Pachelbel, and others.

Barbour holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education and Organ Performance from Marshall University and the Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Cincinnati.

He has performed in dance bands, the Holiday on Ice Orchestra and The Ringling Brothers – Barnum and Bailey Circus Band. He was a featured entertainer for 10 years at the Springdale Music Palace in Cincinnati. He was the Official Organist of the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium from 1987 to 1998. He has served as Dean of The Cincinnati Chapter of American Guild of Organists. He held the position of Manager of Dealer Support Services for church Organ Systems and Organ Company from 1993 to 1996 and Regional Manager for Rodgers instruments from 1996 to 2005.

He has performed in 42 states, all provinces of Canada, Puerto Rico, and England. He was honored to be a presenter at the 2000 and 2004 National Conventions of the American Guild of Organists.

The concert is free to attend and everyone is invited.
