CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Alice Biskey Steele, a 1985 graduate of Campbellsville College, and Rob Collins Bell, morning show host at WCKQ, Q-104, will hold “Up-close and Personal: Kentucky’s Natural Beauty” for the Homecoming art show Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. until noon in The Pence-Chowning Art Shop, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville.
Steele grew up in the “thumb” of Michigan, an hour and a half northeast of Detroit, near Lake Huron. That’s where her love of nature photography began.
She drove to Campbellsville College in January 1981, site unseen, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Journalism minor and has lived here since, other than time in Louisville at The Southern Baptist Theology Seminary to earn a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling.
While there, she married Richard Steele, whom she’d met in Dr. H.E. Coker’s Greek class at Campbellsville College, and they returned to Campbellsville in 1992 for Richard to complete his bachelor’s degree.
Their children, Erin and Marshall, are also CU graduates.
Steele has worked at Campbellsville University since December 2008, currently as a clinical support specialist in the School of Education.
She loves to be outside gardening as mental health therapy. She has painted barn quilt blocks, loves to read, has written and been published in the past and tries her hand at various crafts.
Collins came to Q-104 in 1992 and was host of the afternoon show, before moving to mornings in 1997.
Born in Stearns, Kentucky, Collins spent most of his life growing up in Columbia, where he graduated from Adair County High School, before attending Eastern Kentucky University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1987.
Collins’ philosophy has always been encouraging people through positive engagement. He is also a proud conservationist.
When he isn’t on the air, he spends most of his time hiking trails. He is a Campbellsville/Taylor County Trail Town board member and serves on the advisory board for Clay Hill Memorial Forest.
He is an ambassador with Campbellsville- Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and is an advisory board member for Campbellsville Independent School’s Big Picture Learning.
