SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
Lays out, fits, cuts and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as module frames and pressure vessels, by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Selects equipment, planning the layout, plan the assembly and welding procedure.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Experience in fabrication to measure and make custom pipes to fit. Repairs product using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
- Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in fixture for welding.
- Uses plasma equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using TIG/MIG on aluminum, stainless steel and other materials as needed.
- Assembles parts by bolting.
- Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and organized up to 5s standards.
- Support the Modules Assembly Team as needed/requested.
- Ability to work with machine shop and with machined materials keeping specified tolerances.
- All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to document individual work orders.
- Ability to speak effectively to co-workers, supervisor, and other departments to clarify work orders and blueprints.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Willing and able to be forklift Certified
- Ability to read a tape measure and other measuring equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
2-year certificate from technical school and minimum 2 years welding experience or 1-year certificate from a technical school and a minimum 2-3 years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
