GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Long hours and many deadlines have paid off for Campbellsville University’s Jeannie Clark, director and producer for WLCU-TV. Clark was named the Mid-South Conference Media Person of the Year on Wednesday, June 1 during the conference’s annual meetings at Georgetown College. The award is voted on by MSC sports information directors.

“I am honored and very appreciative for even being nominated for something like this. I did not see it coming,” Clark said. “I enjoy working with sports and love the challenge it presents, because it’s spontaneous and you never see the same thing twice. Athletics is a great platform to promote Campbellsville University.”
During the past year, Clark directed, produced and edited weekly television shows including the “Perry Thomas Show” and “Inside CU Sports” for local programming in Campbellsville and state-wide programming on the Wazoo Sports Network. She also has served as director/producer for live television broadcasts of home football games and home MSC basketball games on Campbellsville’s WLCU-TV, which is broadcast on Comcast Cable channel 10 and streamed online.
In addition, Clark helped provide service and equipment to stream each game of the 2010 and 2011 Mid-South Conference Baseball Tournament online. And on April 6, 2011, she produced the first-ever live televised baseball game from Campbellsville’s Tiger Field.
“Jeannie is the most energetic director or producer with whom l have ever worked,” said Dr. Keith Spears, vice president for regional and professional development. “She is filled with ideas and cares not who gets the credit, just that it is professionally accomplished and represents the medium well.”
In addition to her athletics work, Clark has served as director/producer for WLCU-TV regular shows such as John Chowning’s “Dialogue on Public Issues,” Al Hardy’s “People, Places and Things” and Taylor Regional Hospital’s “Let’s Talk Health.” WLCU-TV also broadcasts live chapel services, FIRST CLASS sessions and commencement ceremonies. Clark, Director of Broadcast Services Jim Wooley and WLCU student workers often video other special events for archival purposes, special projects or commercials.
“Jeannie is very deserving of the award, and is a dedicated professional,” Wooley said.
Clark was unable to attend the MSC meeting June 1 because she was helping to produce a live one-hour program in Louisville, which featured Campbellsville University on “WAVE 3 Listens,” a morning talk show on Louisville’s NBC affiliate station.
WLCU-TV includes Comcast Cable channel 10 and Comcast Cable channel 22, which serves as an information channel for the Taylor County community. Also, the new WLCU 88.7 FM radio station became part of Campbellsville’s Broadcast Services in March 2011.
This is the second year a television professional has been named MSC Media Person of the Year, as the WYMT sports staff in Hazard, Ky., and the Wazoo Sports Network shared the honor in 2010.
